OFFICIAL RESULTS
It was with much anticipation that I travelled up to SIEC this year as for our second NSW Pony Challenge, the dressage entries had increased significantly from 2009. From 147 dressage tests at our inaugural event last year, we had 231 tests at this years event, promising some top competition from the ponies.

Featured for the first time this year were the 4 and 5 year old Young Pony Dressage classes and while there was only 2 entries in each class, the interest generated promises a significant increase in the next few years with many pony owners commenting that they had youngstock had home they were planning on bringing to future events.

Showjumping entries this year increased by 30% on last year and the special pony 6 bar was again a very well contested attraction on the Saturday evening.

It is a very long drive to Sydney for myself and Max and without the enormous amount of work done by our President Vincent Wyles and committee member Justin Worthy, this event just would not happen. Justin organised all of the judges, pencillors and stewards for the weekend, a daunting task but one that Justin approaches and fulfils with professionalism as do his hardworking band of helpers.

Many thanks to Vin who is always there to pat me on the back and pick me up again when I have the occasional melt-down. Despite the calm exterior I might display, believe me, it's more often than not, panic stations on the inside!

We had a super band of helpers this year without who we would still have been adding tests up 2 days later! Many thanks to Sophia for spending several hours on the computer on Saturday setting up the scoring system for us and to Jayne for sorting out all of our beautiful sashes. Both girls just dove in and lent a hand wherever necessary without even being asked. To Anne who worked tirelessly in the office for two full days and to Mandy and Mel, you have our utmost appreciation. I know where to look for top calibre scorers for next year!

To Leisa and Corin many thanks for organising the catering side of the event. All of our judges and helpers commented on the very appetising food on offer and for being so well looked after.

Commentator extraordinairre Brian Brennan made the trip to Sydney again this year and kept everything running smoothly and spectators and competitors alike up to date with all classes. Brian always goes beyond the call of duty with helping us set-up the showjumping on Friday as well as helping to pack-up.

Many thanks to Bob Smart who looked after first aid for the weekend and again helping us out by scoring in the showjumping. Bob commented that he really liked our event as he was well looked after and fed and best of all, no-one hurt themselves!

It was lovely to meet Susan Bettington, our course designer this year for the first time. Riders commented on the excellent courses that Susan constructed for them and we are looking forward to next year where we will hopefully add a 1.20 metre class to the competition. Also many thanks to our jump judge Katrina Dukats.

We will make a few small changes to the format of the NSW Pony Challenge for 2011 to ensure the event runs even better and to allow for further expansion of the program so I look forward to meeting everyone again in Sydney next year.
